You Must Know..

After much discussion with “the masses” (ha) who read this blog, it seems important to say…*I know* I am no poet.  And *I know you know* I am no poet.

And, thank God Almighty that we have English tutors for homeschooling high school writing in this house..I managed to teach my children the basics of various kinds of poetry, owing any success to utilizing well-written curriculums.  THIS is the problem with having a blog and “bearing your soul” and all your “family-isms” (I know you’ll have a cow over THAT word.. )… when you have a lot of home-educating friends (or WRITER/EDITOR friends.. hi Jean..) who KNOW EVERYTHING.  I am so glad you all know so much in the area of poetry and synta… what was it??.. and the rest.. whatever it was.. LOL.. I get it, and I know it, and I don’t care (ok, well.. I don’t know it).

So here’s for the record that I know that you know that I don’t know, and I don’t care, and I am all set to be “cute,” which I have been called 4 times today so far.

Speaking of education.. today was our first day of school…the first year in my life that I have homeschooled five children.   Went quite well.   Little things need to be tweaked, the kinds of things you can only know by actually doing it, no matter the amount of careful planning ahead of time. However, the tweaks are quite pleasantly minimal.  Maybe I am actually getting to be a decent scheduler/coordinator, after doing this umpteem b’zillion years now (it seems…LOL).   Which is good, since we have established the fact that I am no poet (all you nazi-poet-knowers).:^]

  1. Now Anna, the first thing I said after reading your poem was that you WERE a poet, but you told me that you weren’t, and so I said that you were CUTE, which you could not deny!! :) And let’s remember you asked me once to help you with some writing/editing on your business website, and I was happy to do it because, as you know, dat’s whut eye due :) :) BUT, when I read what you were writing up for your business website, I was disappointed to find I had nothing to edit! I found out that day that you were not only Cute, but a good writer!! You are, I will admit, a better writer of PROSE than of poetry, but your poetry isn’t TOO bad… :D So there!!!! xxxooo

  2. Jean, you are far, far, far kinder than my other friends, including children over the age of 12. :) LOL You must know it is extremely humbling to know you are reading anything I write which means that I am “stripped and laid bare,” letting it all hang out. Ah well. Life is short. When I was small, there was a needlepoint wall hanging in our house that read, ” the woods would be very silent if only those who sung the best sang”… something to that effect. So, there ya go.

  4. Anna has written poetry/prose for a very long time (at least since the age that her own kids are now)! If I were lucky and or blest I might be able to find some originals. But , I won’t scare Anna like that. I myself never understood poetry pass rhyming. But , now I have found the Psalms (poetry aren’t they?) and they express so well what I can not, so I love poetry now too. It is so cool / cute that she remembers the little saying on the wall about the birds singing in the forestl. Maybe that’s why God says to write His word on the walls of your house etc. because kids remember the darnedst things! Oh, and she can sing too. and she’s always been cute. I have pictures but lucky for her I don’t know how to share them on the blog. I am very proud of her and amazed. I prayed for her ( as many mothers do) when she was just a newborn, not knowing what or who she’d become or what gifts and talents she would have. And just look at what He has done. And I know that God will continue and He will increase the gifts, and talents , persistence, dedication , and other strengths into the next generation to show His faithfulness and for His Honor and Glory.

  5. Well, the thing about her beautiful singing voice was true about 10 years ago. But now…. well, I’ll let you guess. She tortures us on long trips. And she knows it.

if you really want to know how to get pics on the site…. LOL.. jk.

  6. Well it’s family week on the Thorburn blog, I see. Lydia, you need to just pipe down and remember that I control what is for dinner on any given day :^). Mom, nice thoughts, God is indeed so very good to all of us, despite us, and I can hardly believe it sometimes. I am also considering what “words” I can put on our walls. “Pipe down Lydia” might be one option.
    :^] Love, Anna
