Signed & Sealed… finally!

Though Benjamin has been “ours” since he arrived home on May 31, 2008.. our adoption finalization was not signed till yesterday in Claremont District Court, family division.  Yay!   He is now officially, to all on earth, “Benjamin Samuel Thorburn,” and his birth certificate will read as though we gave birth to him.   We’re so glad that the day finally came!  Benjamin was given a special stuffed bear and a beautiful quilt by his permanency worker, Darcy.   We were a little sad that Lydia could not join us for this special appointment b/c she is in TX right now, but we did our real celebrations months ago, and she’s with us in spirit.   These pics didn’t transfer to the blog very clearly, but you’ll get the jist.

  1. WOW! His birth certificate?!?

Having never adopted any kiddos myself, I didn’t know this was the case. That is very interesting!! And I’m so glad it’s finally final and all.

  2. yeah, it is really funny, actually…. Jesse was born in Russia and I have never been there but I have a certificate that looks like I gave birth to him, in Russia. B/c he is foreign-born, his New Hampshire birth certificate is a “certificate of foreign birth.”

Jubilee’s looks like I gave birth to her (three months before giving birth to Valerie :)) in Colorado.

Ben was born in CA. so I can’t wait to see what their certificates look like. And I have never been there, but back on Sept. 22, 2003, it looks like I was!

  3. So, I guess you’ve been to all those birth places virtually! LOL!
    Congratulations!

  4. Hi Aunt Anna,

I thought this was very interesting too. Since they put you guys down as Jubilee, Jesse and Ben’s Birth Parents, does it mean that they put Uncle Rich down as he went to all these places with you for all of their births?
